Budget 2020 to be delivered at 3pm on Feb 18

SINGAPORE — Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will deliver Singapore’s 2020 Budget Statement in Parliament on Tuesday next week (Feb 18) at 3pm, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said.

SINGAPORE — Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will deliver Singapore’s 2020 Budget Statement in Parliament on Tuesday next week (Feb 18) at 3pm, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said.

In a media statement on Monday, MOF — together with government feedback portal Reach and the People’s Association (PA) — said that the public can watch the Budget speech via multiple channels, including via a live webcast on the Singapore Budget website.

The speech will also be broadcast live on CNA and its website, on radio channel CNA938 and Mediacorp's MeWatch (formerly Toggle).

There will also be real-time updates of key announcements from the Budget Speech on the MOF Facebook page and its Twitter account.

MOF added that it is partnering with the Singapore Association for the Deaf to provide simultaneous sign language interpretation of the speech on the Budget website.

Members of the public can also visit the Budget website and subscribe to receive the full Budget statement via email after it has been delivered.

“This service will be available for sign-ups until 2pm on Friday, Feb 14, 2020,” MOF said.

Budget updates are also available via MOF’s WhatsApp and Telegram channels for those who sign up. Sign-up details can be obtained from Budget website.

BUDGET FEEDBACK

Following the delivery of the 2020 Budget statement, the public can submit their views on the Budget through various feedback channels.

Government feedback portal Reach will hold “listening points” across Singapore to gather views on the Budget. All the listening points are easily accessible, and comprise open booths for Singaporeans to give their feedback in person.

The PA and its grassroots organisations will also be organising post-Budget dialogues and “chit-chat sessions” to engage residents on Budget 2020 measures.

Residents who wish to attend the community post-Budget dialogues or chit-chat sessions can register their interest with the PA Contact Centre at 6344 8222, or at www.go.gov.sg/postbudget.

In view of the evolving novel coronavirus situation, post-Budget outreach and engagement plans may be adjusted to ensure public health.

Updates of the post-Budget outreach and engagement plans will be posted by MOF, Reach and PA on the websites or their social media channels.
