CNB, Singapore Polytechnic warn over fake anti-drug abuse contest after public gets scam email

SINGAPORE — The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) warned on Thursday (Feb 3) that they are not holding an anti-drug abuse photo contest after members of the public said that they have received emails regarding the purported competition.

In a joint advisory, CNB and SP stressed that such emails were not from them and were not sent on their behalf.

“Members of the public are advised not to reply to or click any links in such emails or to respond via the email addresses stated in the emails,” they said.

CNB said that its official social media accounts are located at facebook.com/CNB.DrugFreeSG on Facebook and @cnb.drugfreesg on Instagram. It added that its official website is at https://www.cnb.gov.sg and stressed that its officers will send emails only from addresses ending with “@cnb.gov.sg”.

Similarly, SP said that its official social media accounts are facebook.com/singaporepolytechnic on Facebook, @singaporepoly on Instagram and TikTok and that its official website is at https://www.sp.edu.sg.

“SP’s email addresses also end with ‘@sp.edu.sg’”, the institution said.

The public is advised to verify the official sources listed above before interacting with or responding to any communication purporting to be from bureau or the polytechnic, CNB and SP said.

“Thank you for your continued support for a #DrugFreeSG and stay alert against phishing scams involving emails and text messages.”
