Singaporean toddler aged 18 months dies of Covid-19; first death of child under 12: MOH
SINGAPORE — Singapore on Monday (June 27) reported the first death of a Covid-19 patient below the age of 12.
- An 18-month-old Singaporean boy died from Covid-19 on June 27
- It is the first death of a child below 12 years old from the infectious disease
- The toddler had high fever and recurrent seizures when he was taken to hospital on June 21
- The cause of death is encephalitis or brain inflammation due to Covid-19 and two other viral infections
- The Ministry of Health said that Covid-19 can result in severe disease, even in children and those without pre-existing medical conditions
