New Science Centre in Jurong Lake District: Design details unveiled, opening pushed back to 2027

SINGAPORE — The detailed design of the new Science Centre in Jurong Lake District has been unveiled by the Science Centre Board on Friday (Dec 2), and the centre is set to open in 2027, two years later than projected.

  • The new Science Centre will now open in 2027 instead of 2025
  • The postponed opening will also mark the 50th anniversary of the Science Centre, which first opened in 1977
  • The new location at Jurong Lake District will have a new observatory, outdoor activity plaza and activities for hands-on learning
  • The building will have waterfront views and the aim is to make it a super low energy building
  • The Science Centre will also aim to strengthen existing collaborations and grow new partnerships with companies here and institutes of higher learning
